Hooks

I use a variety of hook sizes when making amigurumi.  My most used hook size is 4.0 mm, but I also use other sizes depending on the project.  If you only buy one hook, I recommend a 4.0 mm hook, but of course it’s great to have hooks in various sizes.  I love the brand Clover Soft Touch.  They’re easy to hold and I can crochet for hours without my hand getting tired.  Below are the exact hooks I use.

Yarn

The yarn I use will depend on the project, but for most of my amigurumi I use Caron Simply Soft.  I buy it from a lot of different stores, it just depends on where there is a sale.  You can find it at Michaels, Jo-Ann Fabrics, Herrschners and Walmart.  It is also available on Amazon, but they don’t have the best prices.  You can typically find this yarn for $2 – $4.

Safety Eyes

I use 18 mm safety eyes for most of my projects, but occasionally I use a smaller size. Below you can find the exact eyes I use.  The reviews are mixed, but I’m pretty happy with them and have not yet received a bad batch.

Needle Felting

I like to use needle felting in a lot of my amigurumi.  It makes the finished piece look more like the original character.  Below are the materials needed for needle felting.
