Charmeleon Crochet Pattern with Video Tutorial

This is the first of the Charmander evolution tutorials.  It’s really easy to turn Charmander into Charmeleon, it only requires one extra piece.

To make Charmeleon, you’ll first need to complete my charmander tutorial below.  Then we can make the extra piece to turn it into Charmeleon.  This pattern has a belly that is separate from the main body, but if you prefer to make a version where you create the belly color by changing colors while making the body, please refer to my Standard Head and Body tutorial.

  1. Pin the belly in place as shown in the photo at the top of this post. Sew it on using cream yarn and a running stitch.
  2. Pin the arms in place as shown in the above images. Using your red yarn and your tapestry needle, sew them in place using a running stitch.
  3. Pin the legs in place as shown in the photo at the top of the post. Sew them in place using red yarn by weaving the yarn into the body, then up through the back of the stitch on the leg directly above where you’re coming out of the body, then bring the yarn out through the front of the stitch and back down into the same stitch in the body you originally came out. Move over to the next stitch and repeat until the legs are sewn in place.
  4. Pin the tail in place as shown in the photo above. Sew it on using the same technique as the legs.
  5. Pin the horn in place and sew it on using the same technique as the legs.
